Damn Diabetes (poem)

“Mommy and daddy, it’s doing it again”
A little voice cries in the darkest night.
“Mommy, the monster is trying to attack,
It’s giving me the mostest awful fright”

“Come up here with mommy, tell me all about it,
Tell me of the thing that made you scream.
Hold on tight to daddy, give him lots of cuddles,
He’ll chase away the monsters in your dream”

The little child whimpers, holds on to her dad,
And whispers of the monster in her life.
She tells a horrid story of needles, pokes and blood,
Of walking on a point sharp as a knife.

Daddy wipes a tear away, he holds his baby close
He knows this monster’s one he can’t defeat.
He looks over at mommy, as she mirrors his emotions,
And silently he whispers “Damn this D”.
